MycoKeys Reports Three New Fungal Species

Three open‑access papers detail new fungal taxa from China and North America.

MycoKeys has recently issued three papers describing new fungal taxa from China and North America.

The first paper reports three new species of the agaric genus Hohenbuehelia from China based on morphology and multi‑locus phylogenetics. The species are Hohenbuehelia albomarginata, characterized by small gray‑brown to brown caps with a frosted tomentum often white at the margin; Hohenbuehelia striata, which has brown, glabrous caps that attach laterally or dorsally without a stipe and show faint translucent stripes; and Hohenbuehelia guizhouensis, noted for its gray‑brown pileus covered in white tomentum and lamellae radiating from the attachment point 1.net].

A second article describes two previously unreported Hygrocybe species from Anhui and Jiangxi provinces in southeast China. Hygrocybe zhibaiensis features viscid basidiomata, a greenish cap, a stipe bright yellow at the apex fading to white below, and bruises black when aged. Hygrocybe longchuanensis displays a bright red center cap with an orange‑yellow margin, a viscid surface, and an orange‑yellow to yellow stipe; its spores are ellipsoid to subglobose 1.net].

The third paper revises the North American members of the Acarospora strigata group and introduces new species. The authors describe Acarospora lactea from Montana, Nevada, and Utah, and publish revised descriptions of A. coloradiana, A. nevadensis, and A. utahensis. They also provide a key for all six members of the group in North America 1.net].
