Three New Fungal Species Published in Recent MycoKeys Issues

MycoKeys reports two new Cortinarius, two new Coniochaeta, and two new Campanella/Crustomyces species from China and Thailand.

The latest open‑access publications from MycoKeys detail three studies on newly described fungal species. The first study describes two new Cortinarius species – Cortinarius linzhiensis and Cortinarius pallidomarginatus – collected across the Qinghai‑Xizang Plateau in southwestern China 1.net]. The second paper presents two new Coniochaeta species – Coniochaeta saxicola and Coniochaeta terricola – isolated from rock and soil samples in northern Thailand between 2024 and 2025 1.net]. The third research article introduces two new species of Campanella and Crustomyces – Campanella albomarginata and Crustomyces odontoideus – found in Yunnan Province’s tropical forests 1.net].

These discoveries underscore the value of combining morphological analysis with molecular phylogenetics to reveal hidden diversity. They also provide useful information for conservation planning, biotechnological applications, and sustainable forest management by identifying keystone species involved in nutrient cycling. While these taxa are new to science, they fit within known genera and do not represent entirely novel lineages.
